Diving While Intoxicated Points to Ponder

Driving while intoxicated is illegal and has devastating consequences, and it is something that should be avoided at all cost for a number of reasons such as the cost involve.

 

Alcohol Impairment

 

The legal alcohol limit is .08 percent blood alcohol concentration, and there are many myths about alcohol impairment. However, alcohol impairment has no bearing on the type of alcohol consume, but depends largely on the number of drinks one consumes within a specific amount of time. Someone with a blood concentration (BAC) level of .08 can reach intoxication level after a couple of drinks. While others may consume several drinks before becoming impaired, and there is no scientific formula to determine when drunkenness will occur, so, not a one size fits all condition because everyone is different. Studies show that at .08 BAC level, someone under the influence have a higher chance of being involved in a single-vehicle crash than drivers who did not consume alcohol. Although the .08 is the legal limit, statistics show that accidents do occur at lower levels.

 

Driving under the Influence Consequence

 

Drinking and driving is costly. You not only have to pay a large fine, but you might have to attend DUI classes, which can run you anywhere from $500 to $1000 depending on your locale. Plus, towing, storage fees, attorney fees and license reinstatement and an increase in your insurance premium or possible cancellation of your auto policy.


With so much at stake, it is better to not drive while intoxicated but if you must drink get a designated driver.
